Already known for the oldest and best wine, travelers in Georgia will choose the winery with more welcoming and interesting environment. Why is the winery Giuaani, located close to Tbilisi in a historical village Manavi, special? Giuaani, family run winery, produces one of the oldest wines in the region, but not only this.
Entering the winery you can watch how Georgian shoti bread is baked in Tone, how churchkhelas are made and you even watch chacha making process. You may participate in all the master classes. After that you may relax in a quite environment and enjoy wine tasting with the fire burning in the fireplace. Choice won’t be easy. Giuaani has 22 kinds of wine both European and Qvevri wines. After a good rest you may enjoy walking a little. The winery has Japanese and Georgian gardens where you meet rare varieties of plants like white and rose Sakura, Cedrus atlantica, Photinia and etc.
After that, you must visit the restaurant serving both Kakhetian traditional and European cuisine. For better mood choose the music yourself-folk, Georgian songs or classical. And finally, if you are so fascinated with the time spending there and wished to stay longer, don’t worry, the winery has a small, a family style hotel with a swimming pool. Consequently, this place is the perfect place to base yourself while visiting Kakheti. What’s more… There is also a vineyard where you can participate in harvesting when it is season.
Great food and wine go hand in hand with a great travel experience, and nowhere offers a better combination of both than Giuaani.
Very good post, I often say “it’s not about the wine” as we travel around Europe, visit vineyards, stay in villages and meet winemakers. The culture, traditions, the terroir, history, geography etc is all there to be enjoyed. Oh, and a glass or too as well 🍷🍷
Thanks for comment. You are absolutely right! Cheers with a glass of wine!
Great post 😁
