A little bit of Japan in Georgia: First Japanese garden opens in Tbilisi

The spirit of Japan can now be felt in Georgia after the first Japanese garden has opened in capital Tbilisi today.

The new garden served as a symbol of good relations between Georgia and Japan, Georgia’s Foreign Ministry said.

The garden was opened in the National Botanical Garden of Georgia, and featured traditional Japanese greenery and cherry blossoms.

The opening ceremony was attended by Tbilisi mayor, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Japanese Ambassador to Georgia and other officials.

The garden design was developed by Japanese company Kosugi Zohen.

Japanese Government allocated 200,000 GEL (about $85,294/€76,903) to Georgia to build the Japanese garden in Tbilisi.
