On June 21, 2018 State Silk Museum hosted the project ‘The Heritage of Vietnamese Silk Weaving’ organized by Trang Hoang-Regner. This is a part of the project ‘Transcontinental network far and near’. The project is about the relations between Georgia and The Great Silk Road countries.
In the frames of the project various traditional and modern Vietnamese silk and weaving objects were introduced. Mrs Trang donated a 100 year-old silk spinning wheel and a silk dress to the State Silk Museum.
In the end of the event Mrs. Trang was appointed as a manager of the Silk Museum Friends Association, in the field of International Friends Direction. In her word she expressed her appreciation to the Silk Museum and Demi Catering Service for a big support and she thanked the Ambassador of France in Georgia Mr. Monsieur Pascal Meunier to attend her opening event. She said: ‘Vietnamese Silk and textiles’ history had very strong connection with France since France built the biggest factory of Indochina in Nam Dinh, Vietnam where the spinning machine, I had donated to Silk Museum Tbilisi, came from!’
Director of the Museum hopes that the event will increase the interest and the museum will have more visitors.
